Background: |
Kalen grew up in the Sierra Nevada foothills outside Yosemite National
Park. In graduate school at the University of Virginia, he met his wife,
Melissa. After attending law school at the University of Edinburgh and
the University of Texas, he and his family (recently expanded to include
a son, Aidan) moved to Portland. During law school, Kalen clerked for a firm in Dallas, Texas and the Texas Attorney General’s Office. He also volunteered for a NGO in Chiang Mai, Thailand and served as a staff editor for the Texas International Law Journal. |
